What are Dentures?
Dentures are removable appliances which are used to replace missing teeth. There are 2 types of dentures
- Partial dentures – if one or more tooth are missing.
- Complete dentures – if all the teeth are missing.
What is procedure involved in placing dentures?
There are multiple steps involved in this procedure
- At first your dentist will take impression of your jaws and pour casts and analyze the cast for their relation, space available between them.
- Wax rims will be prepared to check the height and fit.
- Teeth will be arranged in the wax rim and will be checked for any correction.
- Final dentures will be made and delivered to the patient and minor adjustments will be done if any.
How much time is required for the procedure?
As the procedure involves multiple steps, the treatment duration vary from person to person.
What are the things to do after receiving dentures?
- Soak your dentures overnight in water or solution given by your dentist.
- Rinse your dentures before putting them on in the morning.
- Brush daily with soft bristles with tooth paste as prescribed by your dentist.
- Do take care of your mouth, gums, and tongue.
- Do not try and bite hard food with front Dentures.
- Do not use a toothpick or pointed objects on Dentures.
- Do not drop them as they are delicate and may break if you do so.
- If they loosen, do not try to fix it on your own instead visit a dentist.
